Tournament Rules and Regulations
Welcome to Ballerz Pool Lounge’s Tournament Rules and Regulations. By participating in our tournaments, you agree to comply with the rules and guidelines outlined here. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Tournament Types
Formats
Tournaments are typically limited to 32 participants and follow one of the formats listed below. The format for each tournament will be announced in promotional materials and the registration confirmation email.
- Open Tournament – Single Elimination: Straight knockout format.
- Open Tournament – Single Elimination with Plate: Includes a ‘Plate Tournament’ for players eliminated in Round 1.
- Open Tournament – Double Elimination: Players progress through winners’ and losers’ brackets up to the quarter-finals.
- Open Handicapped Tournaments: Available in both Single and Double Elimination formats.

Rules of Play
Tournaments will be conducted under either International Rules or Blackball Rules on American or English pool tables. The applicable rules will be clearly specified in the promotional materials.

Player Responsibilities
- Players must familiarise themselves with the relevant rules before the tournament begins.
- Ensure timely arrival and readiness for matches.
- Keep track of match scores and report results to the Tournament Director or Referee.
Match Timing and Speed of Play
- Matches will follow strict time limits:
- Best of 5 Frames: 50 minutes
- Best of 7 Frames: 1 hour 15 minutes
- Best of 9 Frames: 1 hour 30 minutes
Referee and Disputes
- Players are responsible for calling a referee to oversee shots or make decisions.
- Referee decisions are final.
Scoring and Results
- Score Recording: Both players are responsible for accurate score recording.
- Match Results: The winning player must report the result to the Tournament Director.
Unsporting Conduct
Definition
Unsporting behaviour includes but is not limited to:
- Distraction, intimidation, or offensive behaviour.
- Discriminatory actions based on race, religion, gender, or ethnicity.
Penalties
Depending on severity, penalties may include:
- Warning.
- Loss of a frame or match.
- Disqualification from the tournament.
Membership Requirements
All tournament participants must be members of Ballerz Pool Lounge. Membership is free and can be completed via the Membership Page.
Registration and Entry Fees
Registration Process
- Players will receive confirmation emails upon successful registration and payment.
- If the tournament is full, players can opt for automatic entry into the next tournament or request a refund.
Entry Fee
- The entry fee for tournaments is £20, payable during registration. Refunds are only provided in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

Prize Money
Allocation
- All entry fees, minus processing costs, are allocated to the prize pool.
- Examples of prize distribution:
- Winner, Runner-Up, and Semi-Finalists in Open Tournaments.
- Winner and Runner-Up in Plate Tournaments.
Payment
- Prize money is distributed via bank transfer within 48 hours of the tournament’s conclusion.
Social Media Consent
By participating, you consent to the use of your image in Ballerz Pool Lounge’s promotional materials. This includes:
- Printed publications.
- Social media channels.
- Website and marketing materials.
If this causes an issue, please notify the Tournament Director.
General Obligations
Players must:
- Respect other participants and refrain from discriminatory or offensive behaviour.
- Comply with the rules and maintain the spirit of the game.
